Future Peers, “Madonna Trash”

Hailing from Toronto, rockers Future Peers are readying a new EP, I’m Sorry, which finds them sanding off some of their rougher edges in favor of a poppier leanings. That isn’t to say Future Peers have lost anything that made their previous releases so thrilling, if anything they’ve made a stride forward in expanding their art-punk palette.

Today, Impose Magazine is happy to host the exclusive premiere of the EP’s latest single, “Madonna Trash,” and its accompanying video. The searing, multi-faceted track artfully blends Future Peers’ newly refined approach bringing to mind a cross between The Killers and Talking Heads.

The video’s directors, Bill Allinson & Andy Friesen, share: “‘Madonna Trash’ explores the romanticism of placing faith on an idol of worship, and the bevy of conflicting emotions brought forth from expecting something in return. Filmed using mixed-techniques of live action, stop motion animation and digital effects, the video presents a dizzying kaleidoscope of both calming and confrontational imagery to examine this idea of blind faith.”
